In some situations, you need to correct a truck's location in an exchange lane that is served by a straddle carrier or ASC, for example when a truck driver lost the gate ticket or a reader error occurred in the lane. N4 needs to communicate any manual changes to a trucks location in a transfer zone to XPS, particularly when:
The position of a container changes such that its current position and the new position are both in an exchange area or a landside transfer zone. In this case, XPS finds the truck transaction that the receival is associated with and sends a request to N4 to update the position of the related truck visit with the new position of the container.
For a delivery, a work instruction changes such that the plan is from one exchange lane to another or from one landside transfer zone to another. In this case, XPS finds the transaction that the delivery is associated with and sends a request to N4 to update the position of the truck visit.
For XPS to be able to send this update to N4, you need to set up Bento communication between XPS and N4. This requires that you do the following on the N4 side:
Configure ARGOBENTO001 (TBDUNIT_BENTO_SERVER_PORT) (N4 client Administration
Settings
Settings
Settings view
Edit Configuration form)
For more information, see the N4 online help.
Make sure the Bento Server background job is running (N4 client Administration
System
Background Jobs
Background Jobs view
Actions
Launch Bento Server (ECN4 support)).
For more information, see the N4 online help.
Verify the configuration of Yard Interchange Lanes for straddle areas and of transfer points for ASC stacks (N4 client Configuration
Gate
Gates
Gates view
Gate form).
XPS should automatically acquire the following information through the cache/ESB:
The port number of the server used to send Bento messages
The IP address of the N4 node that is running the Bento Server job
For more information on this job, see the N4 online help.
To verify the configuration of gate lanes:
In a N4 client, open the Configuration Gate
Gates
Gates view.
Verify that transfer points and exchange lanes have been set up.
Make sure the exchange lanes in the Gate Edit form are identical to the lanes in the corresponding Straddle Grid block shown in the Block Plan window (Operations Yard
Yard Blocks
Right-click Straddle Grid block
View Block Plan). For more information, see Navis N4: Setup, Maintenance, and System Diagnostics Guide.
Make sure the transfer points in the Gate Edit form are identical to the blocks of type Transfer Zone listed in the Yard Blocks view.
